TURNSTONE SLED HOCKEY TEAM FINISHES AS FIRST RUNNER-UP AT STATE CHAMPIONSHIP AND GEARS UP FOR NATIONAL COMPETITION

FORT WAYNE, IN (April 10, 2023)— Turnstone Flyer’s sled hockey team finished runner-up at the State Championship that took place on Saturday, April 1. Turnstone Flyers who won this inaugural event last season had a tighter battle this year. Turnstone opened with a 0-1 loss to the host team Indy Steel followed by a 9-0 win over the much-improved Sled Rovers from South Bend. The final showdown was a rematch from last season vs Indy Steel. The game was very close throughout as Indy had the upper hand with a 4-5 win.

  • Won 9-0 vs Sled Rovers (South Bend)
  • Loss 4-5 vs Steel (Indianapolis)

The Flyers finished 9th in the Heartland League this year.

Upcoming National Competition

The next game will be the National competition, April 13-16, in St. Louis. Turnstone is playing in the Tier 4 Division with teams from Charleston, SC; Cincinnati, OH; Boston, MA (2nd team), and Maddison, WI in the other pool. The Flyer’s schedule for Nationals is below:
