Turnstone Sled Hockey And Power Soccer Celebrate Big Wins

FORT WAYNE, IN (May 1, 2022) — The Turnstone Flyers Sled Hockey and Power Soccer Teams each celebrated some big wins after their April 22-24 competitions.

For the 10th straight season, the Turnstone Flyers Sled hockey team made it to the final four during the National competition weekend in Philadelphia

Team Season Highlights:

  • 4th in Tier 3 at Nationals
  • 20th Final National Ranking
  • State Champions
  • 5th out of 12 teams in the Heartland League

Season Record: 16-12-2

Since 2011 (excluding 2020 & 2021 w/o nationals being held) Turnstone has positioned themselves in the semifinals at Nationals. The Flyers won in 2017 (San Jose) and 2014 (Boston) while finishing runner-up 2019 (Tampa), 2015 (Buffalo), 2013 (Philly), and 2012 (Dallas)

Elliott Mohre led the team with 55 points and 37 goals followed by Cai Davis with 35 points and 22 goals. John Pfeiffer led the team with 24 assists while adding three goals. Kevin Hughes was just behind with 23 assists and five goals. As a rookie, Allison Parker was fifth on the team with 12 points and three goals. In his third season, Randy Mohre was fifth on the team in assists with 11 and added a goal. Tanner Pfeiffer had a career-high nine points and three goals. Peter Mitchell also set a career mark with three goals while also adding five assists and four PIM. Robert Walters scored both his first goal and added his first assist.

The backbone of the team was the goaltenders. Noel Klein was leading behind the pipes taking on the majority of the load. He went 9-11-2 with 2 shutouts and 4 of the games only losing by 1 goal. Skylar Osborn also saw action in net. Last season was his first by playing forward. This season he played dual roles. In goal, Skylar went 7-1 with two shutouts and two shootout victories. As a skater, he added five assists and two PIM in 15 games.

Power Soccer

Turnstone’s Premier Cup soccer team wrapped up the annual weekend showdown competing versus the top 10 teams in the nation by going 2-3 with their final game being a 4-0 victory over the GLASA Fire from Chicago.

David Dowling led the team with 8 points while Danil Vorndran led with six goals. Tiffany Labas took control in net as Derek Sellers got more comfortable playing with the top-tier team and Autry Keener played his first games after being off a few years.
