Turnstone Features Live-Stream Conversation with Two-Time Paralympian John Register to Celebrate Disability Awareness Month

Turnstone has joined people and organizations throughout the country in the celebration of Disability Awareness Month. Turnstone will be closing its month-long campaign, “First, People: Conversations”, with a live-streamed conversation with renowned two-time Paralympian, John Register on Monday, March 28, at 5 pm. The live-streamed conversation will be hosted on Turnstone’s Facebook and LinkedIn channels. Register, a combat Army veteran, 4-time track and field all-American, 2-time Olympic trials qualifier, 2-time Paralympic Silver Medalist, professional speaker, and friend of Turnstone, will field questions submitted by viewers and share his thoughts on the importance of empowering people with disabilities by providing inclusive opportunities which benefits our whole community.

“First, People: Conversations,” is an extension of Turnstone’s 2021 “First, People” campaign which included the release of a video resource that educated the community on how to use words and actions to respect and relate to people with disabilities. Turnstone’s 2022 video series will highlight important stories and perspectives of people with disabilities in the Fort Wayne community and beyond.

This year’s campaign shed more light on community, inclusivity, and diversity-related specifically to people with disabilities. Throughout March, profiles of Turnstone-affiliated community members, Tom, Cliff, Lisa, and Tina were posted on Turnstone’s website and social media channels. Each feature highlighted a different topic relevant to the community of people with disabilities. The content encourages people to take the first step in creating more diverse communities by listening to respective people’s stories that are different than their own.

All of the recorded conversations and written features will be shared on Turnstone’s website, and Turnstone’s social media profiles on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and LinkedIn. You can also watch last year’s “First, People video on our website and on YouTube.
