Turnstone Center Announces One-Day Vaccine Clinic: Free to all Community Members 18+ or People with Disabilities of all ages

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (September 14, 2023) - Turnstone Center is pleased to announce a free vaccine clinic happening on September 25, 2023, at its facility located at 3320 North Clinton Street, Fort Wayne. This clinic offers no-cost vaccines for anyone aged 18 and older, as well as people of all ages who have a disability. Vaccines available include Influenza, Shingles, COVID, and pneumonia vaccines.

Protecting Our Community

Turnstone Center understands that people with disabilities and older adults have faced extra challenges during the COVID-19 pandemic. While many got their first COVID-19 shots, fewer have received the updated vaccine that provides better protection, especially against variants like Omicron. This puts them at higher risk, especially when people gather indoors during holidays and winter.

"We are excited to make vaccines more accessible in our community because we care about the health and well-being of everyone," said Luke Morgan, Chief Operating Officer at Turnstone Center. "By working together, we can help older adults and people with disabilities in northeast Indiana stay healthy."

Partnership for a Safer Community

This vaccine clinic is possible thanks to a partnership with Aging & In-Home Services of Northeast Indiana and funding from the Aging & Disability Vaccination Collaborative. The Aging & Disability Vaccination Collaborative is an initiative funded by the Administration for Community Living and focuses on improving vaccination rates among seniors and individuals with disabilities.

The Aging & Disability Vaccination Collaborative, led by AIHS (Aging & In-Home Services of Northeast Indiana), brings together different organizations to ensure that older adults and people with disabilities can easily get the vaccines they need. This effort recognizes the challenges these groups face, like difficulty getting to vaccination sites, transportation issues, and not knowing why vaccines are important.
