Turnstone Center and YMCA of Greater Fort Wayne Host Summer Camps for All Abilities

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (June 3, 2024) – Turnstone Center and the YMCA of Greater Fort Wayne are set to host the fifth annual All Abilities Camp at Turnstone on July 8-12 from 9:30 a.m. to noon. This year a second All Abilities Camp will also be hosted at the Caylor-Nickel Foundation Family YMCA in Bluffton from July 15-19 from 9:30 a.m. to noon.

Campers with and without disabilities (physical, visual, developmental, etc.) will have the opportunity to participate in sports and recreation activities. Sports and activities that campers will experience include Boccia, crafts, volleyball, tennis, cycling, dance collective, baseball, and more. Those interested in participating in either camp should register online by July 1. Both camps are open to individuals ages 8-18. Cost is $90 per camper.

Volunteers are needed for both camps. Those interested in lending a hand can sign up online on Turnstone’s volunteer page.

The annual camp is part of a partnership between Turnstone Center and the YMCA of Greater Fort Wayne aimed to increase access to adaptive and inclusive sport opportunities for all youth and adults in Fort Wayne and surrounding communities. Thanks to funding from The Hartford and support from Move United, Turnstone Center and the YMCA are working together to make sure everyone can be a part of the action. For more information about the camp, contact Michelle Kimpel, Director of Sports and Rec at Turnstone, at [email protected].
