Turnstone 2019-2020 Competitive Season Wrap-Up

We are so proud of Turnstone's athletes and athletes around the world who committed their all to competitive seasons that would eventually be cut short by the COVID-19 pandemic. Due to social distancing directives, Turnstone's adaptive sports practices and tournaments were canceled in March 2020. We look forward to gathering our athletes next season when it is healthy and responsible to do so.

Premier Cup Division – Turnstone Flyers – Power Soccer

Team Record: 7-6

Playing in the toughest division, our Premier Cup team finished on a hot streak by winning 5 of the last 8 games which included defeating arch rivals #2 RHI Sudden Impact (Indianapolis, IN) 2 of the last 3 games 1-0; 0-2 & 5-0 respectively

Extra Nuggets: Luke Labas led the team with 24 points (8 goals & 16 assists) while Danil Vorndran led the team in goals with 12 (18 Points). David Dowling who also plays on Team USA contributed 9 goals and 6 assists while Lucas Wable added 7 goals (9 points) to the team. Tiffany Labas was solid as our goaltender.

Season Status: Nationals Canceled

Founders Cup Division – Turnstone Furious Flyers – Power Soccer

Team Record: 1-9-1

The nucleus of the team was back for their 3rd season competing together. They were clicking on all cylinders when they defeated the Hot Shots (Sulpher Springs, IN) 8-1. They also came close to defeating the top team in their Division who is also undefeated RHI Inferno (Indianapolis, IN) but came up a goal short 5-6. Furious Flyers had an additional 3 games decided by 2 goals or less that could have broken in their favor.

Extra Nuggets: Derek Sellers led the team with 15 points (5 goals & 9 assists) while Julie Meyers led the team with 10 goals (12 points). Greg Buse added 4 goals while both Parker Minier and Owen Donahue were great role players.

Season Status: Nationals Canceled

Tier 3 Division – Turnstone Flyers – Sled Hockey

Team Record: 8-8-1-1

The Flyers finished 7-4 in their last 11 games. Nick Hatfield & Avery Stuab led the team with 17 Points each while Cai Davis led the team with 10 goals to add to his 13 points. Youngster, Elliott Mohre was 2nd on the team in points with 14 (7 Goals & 7 Assists)

Extra Nugget: Nationals next year will be held April 8th - 11th, 2021 in Pittsburgh, PA

Season Status: League Championship and National Championship were canceled.

Adult Division III – Turnstone Bandits – Wheelchair Basketball

Team Record: 9-8-1

The Bandits closed out the season winning 4 of their last 5 games. Their top victory was over #5 Spokes and Spires (Louisville, KY) 53-47. They showed their competitiveness in a tight overtime loss to the #7 Forest City Flyers (London, ON, CA) 53-55.
Season Status: Nationals Canceled

Varsity Division – Turnstone Flyers – Wheelchair Basketball

Team Record: 5-23

This young team (average age of 14.66 years old) finished their season strong as their final two victories were their toughest as they defeated the #29 Jr. Chariots (Rockford, IL) 49-47 and #32 Jr. Pacers (Grand Rapids, MI) 40-26

Season Status: Nationals Canceled

Division II – Turnstone Flyers – Quad Rugby

Team Record: 4-5

The 4th season for this team has been the most successful year for our rugby program. Rising from zero to four wins this season is a huge step in the right direction as the athletes continue to hone their skills and strategy.

Extra Nugget: Brandon Somerville and James Ezell led the team in points 118 & 114 respectively. Newcomer, Scott Wade, added 11 points. Chuck Byndom was 3rd on the team with 70 points while Tyler Sarrazine added 37 points. Grace Reichenbach, Bert Hellyer and Victoria Grose all added one point each.
Season Status: Nationals Canceled

Track & Field

The season started with practice but all competitions are on hold for the time being.
