New Turnstone Website Features Increased Accessibility Tools: Live Demo on April 18

Turnstone New Website April 2023 1

FORT WAYNE, IN (April 6, 2023)— Turnstone Center has announced the launch of its new website, turnstone.org. The new website has been designed to offer a more user-friendly experience for the disability communities with improved navigation and enhanced accessibility features that better support universal access to information about Turnstone’s services and resources.

The site features best-in-class accessibility features beyond WCAG 2.1 AA standards, a responsive mobile-friendly design, dynamic digital program guides, and the launch of a new short survey to help community members identify the best services to help them meet their goals. The updated site’s enhancements will make it easier for visitors to access the information they need most and connect them with Turnstone staff.

“Digital accessibility was a critical priority with Turnstone’s most recent website improvements,” said Stasha Carrasquillo, Chief Marketing Technology Officer. “We know that a website user’s experience online communicates the priorities and operations of an organization. As a leader in services for people with disabilities, it is important to us that our community feels supported from their first interaction with us, no matter where that takes place, online or offline.”

Turnstone worked with Reusser, a digital agency in Roanoke, Ind., on the creation of the website, with custom content strategy, design, and development.

Nate Reusser, president of Reusser, said it’s an important part of the agency's culture to support the community and vital nonprofits like Turnstone.

“It’s been an honor working with Turnstone for nearly a decade because we truly believe in its mission to create possibilities and an inclusive community. With an ADA-compatible website, Turnstone’s site connects its important services, facilities and programs to address the unique needs of people with disabilities and their families,” said Reusser.

Also featured on the new website is the addition of an accessibility tool, built by leading company accessiBe. The new tool is provided free of charge to disability-focused nonprofit organizations as part of accessiBe’s Nonprofit Partnership Program. The tool offers additional options for website visitors to customize their user experience with details unique to their needs.

"Raising awareness alongside incredible nonprofit partners like the Turnstone Center helps to educate local and global communities about disability and the importance of accessibility. Together, every conversation and post provides an opportunity to make change and most important to make a difference. Thank you Turnstone for being on this journey with us!" said Josh Basile, C4-5 Quadriplegic, Community Relations Manager at accessiBe.

accessiBe will be offering a live Zoom session to provide information about digital accessibility, and demonstrate how the accessibility tool operates with Turnstone’s website. The live demo will be held on Tuesday, April 18, at 9:00am EST. Save the date now and more information, including links, will be shared online at https://turnstone.org/about/ev...

Community members are invited to explore the new website to discover the services available to support their goals. Questions about services and resources can be submitted online at turnstone.org/contact or by calling (260)483-2100.

Turnstone’s efforts to update and enhance the usability and accessibility of its website are made possible thanks to funding support from AWS Foundation’s Vantage Grant.
