Josh Swoverland and the University of Whitewater Men's wheelchair basketball team won the Intercollegiate Division National Championship this weekend. Josh played 5:43 minutes in this tight 74-67 victory over the favorites, University of Arizona. Josh picked up 1 assist and 1 shot attempt. You can watch a replay of the game here as the game starts at the 4:21:36 mark. Josh is jersey #21. UW-Whitewater finished the season with a 26-5 record and the 14th National Championship for the program.

Josh originally attended University of Illinois after high school. With only one season played at U of I and now his first season at UW-Whitewater he'll have two more seasons of eligibility.
Josh competed on Turnstone wheelchair basketball teams (Prep & Varsity Division) from 2003-2010. He helped lead the team to five Conference Championships and two Regional Championships. Josh was also a two time All-Academic Team and 1st Team All-American twice. During this time Josh's teams finished with an overall record of 117-27 (81.25%). In 2004 the Prep team finished runner-up at Nationals and in 2008 the Varsity team finished 3rd which is the highest rank for both Turnstone teams all time.

Josh also competed in Track and Field as he represented Team USA in 2008 & 2009 at the IWAS Junior World Championships in Piscataway, NJ and Switzerland respectively. He also competed in the 2012 US Paralympic Championship Trials where he pushed in the 400, 800, 1500 and the 4x400 relay.

We're all very proud of Josh continuing his education and passion on the basketball court.
