Local Funk/Fusion Band, Los Galaxy, Wins Inaugural “Center Stage” Talent Variety Show

FORT WAYNE, IN (May 13, 2022)—Turnstone is pleased to announce that Los Galaxy, a local funk/fusion band, was the inaugural winner of “Center Stage: Fort Wayne’s Premier Talent Show” last night.

After being awarded the $1000 check, the band was buzzing with excitement backstage. “We are feeling really good! Los Galaxy, y’all,” cheered the band.

Los Galaxy is a six-piece funk/fusion band based out of Fort Wayne, IN. They got their start busking at random areas in downtown Fort Wayne, and eventually decided to make it a full time band. Los Galaxy consists of Takoda Collins on tenor sax, Ashton Morris on alto/tenor sax, Daniel Vaides on the keys, David Vaides on guitar, Jonathan Jehle on bass, and Zane Stackhouse on the drums.

The band had the audience clapping, dancing and laughing during their entire performance.

“Every single one of the talent acts were phenomenal, the judges offered some really great words of encouragement, the emcees did a great job running the show, the Clyde Theatre was super helpful to us the entire way, and the audience made it such a fun night,” said Rena Shown, Chief of Development and Strategic Partnerships at Turnstone. “We appreciate all those who attended, donated, sponsored and supported this show.”

“Center Stage” is a first-of-its-kind talent experience in our community, elevating talent and performing arts for all people with and without disabilities. Art in all of its forms is the expression of life from the artist’s perspective, and through art we all have the opportunity to experience someone else’s thoughts, feelings, and point of view, and challenge us to respect diversity in life for the beauty that it creates.

In its inaugural year, “Center Stage: Fort Wayne’s Premier Talent Show” presented by Sweetwater at the Clyde Theatre, featured 12 local performing artists who were invited to the competition after being chosen from preliminary submissions. Turnstone Center believes in a people-first approach to empowerment and celebrating talent-first opportunities.

Efforts are already underway to confirm the dates for the next Center Stage event. Community members and local artists are encouraged to watch Turnstone.org/CenterStage for more information.
