Local Adaptive Athletes Are Headed To National Championships This Month

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (April 5, 2024) – Turnstone is sending off local athletes to national competitions for the next two weekends. This weekend, April 5-7, Cole Connelley, who has competed in Turnstone's athletic program since the fall of 2011, will be representing Fort Wayne as a part of the RHI Racers team. Connelley is a junior at Wayne New Tech High School and earned First Team All-Conference this season. Turnstone's hockey team will then take on the top teams in the nation in Philadelphia, PA the following weekend, April 18-21.

Wheelchair Basketball

The Varsity Division wheelchair basketball team, RHI Racers, is all set for Nationals on April 5-7 in Richmond, VA. The team (headquartered in Indianapolis) has a 31-13 overall record, second in the Conference and earned the #13 seed at Nationals, which includes the top 16 out of 53 teams in the nation.

The Racers’ first-round opponent will be the #4 New York Rolling Fury who finished the season 16-6 and second in the Eastern Conference. The Fury's only losses were to the three teams (Lakeshore, Charlotte, and Bennett) ranked higher than them. Sled Hockey

Turnstone’s Furious Flyers Sled Hockey team is 15-12-1 this season while finishing runner-up at both State & League Championships. Turnstone will compete in the Tier 4 Division. A total of 61 teams in 9 divisions will play a combined 99 games at Nationals. 22 states will be represented during this competition.
