League, State And National Championship Set For Turnstone Sled Hockey Team

Turnstone hosted the 15th Annual Bob Chase Frostbite Classic as 11 teams from 6 states traveled in for Heartland league matches.

Turnstone's first two games were decided by 1 goal as our Turnstone Flyers went toe-to-toe in a 2-3 loss to the Sled Wings from Grand Rapids and a 1-2 loss to the Steel from Indianapolis. Both games were end-to-end action. The Indy game was decided in the final 11 seconds as one of our athletes broke his stick on the final drive which led to a 2-1 rush for the game-winning goal. Turnstone also played tight with the Thunder from Bloomington, IL as Turnstone scored in the 3rd period to bring the score to 1-2 but the Thunder sealed the game 1-4. The Flyers' final match came from the top-ranked Sled Preds from Nashville. Turnstone started the game hot as a rookie, Aaron Wolf scored his first-ever goal to give us the lead which carried the team through the 2nd period but the Sled Preds' firepower became too strong in the 1-8 match.

Turnstone will travel to Grand Rapids, March 24-26 for the League Championship followed by the State Championship on April 1 in Indy. Turnstone will conclude their season April 13-16 in St. Louis for Nationals.

This tournament was covered by Wane 15 and 21 Alive.
