Wheelchair Basketball Team Qualifies for Nationals

Four Junior Division wheelchair basketball teams have punched their ticket for March Madness as the top 2 teams in each division (Varsity & Prep) qualified for Nationals at the Regional Qualifier Turnstone hosted January 20-21.

Turnstone athlete, Cole Connelley, and the RHI Racers went 4-2 in the Varsity Division to crawl their way to the Championship game by beating Rancho Halo (Los Angeles) by 15 points in the Semifinals after losing to them earlier by 23 points. The Racers also had 46 point win over ASPO Cavaliers (Cleveland); 54 point win over LWSRA B team (Chicago); and a 15 point Quarterfinals game over MFB Jr. Pacers (Grand Rapids). LWSRA A Team ended up winning the Championship over RHI as both teams received automatic bids to be among the top 32 teams in the nation dancing at Nationals in Richmond, VA April 5-7.

In the Prep Division LWSRA cruised to a 3-0 record including a 15 point victory over MFB Jr. Pacers in the Championship Game. Both teams will also be heading to nationals.

NBA All-Star Knockout:

As part of a statewide (all 92 Indiana counties) celebration of basketball Turnstone hosted a Knockout competition for both the Prep & Varsity Division. The two winners won special All-Star Indy basketball, two tickets to the NBA Crossroads event in Indy February 16-18 at the Indiana Convention Center, a signed autograph card from Indiana Pacer Tyrese Halliburton and an invitation to a special recognition opportunity at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis!

Extra Nugget: The Racers have won more games (20) than any other Varsity team. The Kansas City Kings are 2nd with 12 wins this season. The Racers are 11-3 in the last 14 games.
