Sponsorship Coordinator

Turnstone is seeking a take charge professional to plan, organize, and execute its annual fundraising efforts in the area of sponsorship.  Must maintain adequate records, set and achieve agreed upon budget and abide by agency policies.  The Sponsorship Coordinator will assist the Special Events Coordinator when necessary with the research and cultivation of sponsors for events. Minimum of a bachelor’s degree and 3 years of sponsorship fundraising required.  This is a full time position with benefits.  Some evening and weekend hours required.

Intellectual/Developmental Disabilities Recreation Coordinator

Turnstone, a Fort Wayne non-profit organization that provides comprehensive services for people with disabilities is seeking an energetic, creative professional to develop and coordinate a variety of adaptive sports, recreation and leisure programs.

Successful applicant will be responsible to plan, develop, coordinate and implement a variety of adaptive sports, recreation and leisure programs for clients with intellectual/development disabilities.  This includes assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of recreation and social programs.  As the primary intake point into the program, this position is responsible for outreach and recruitment of all levels, conducting intake/interest surveys with new participants; maintain accurate and timely records, development and adhering to a program budget; conduct programs; recruit and train volunteers; and work with co-workers in a positive team building manner.  This position is a salaried fulltime position, flexible schedule, which often includes weekends and evenings.

This position requires a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in therapeutic recreation and current certification as a Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS).  Professional paid experience working with intellectual/developmental disabilities, is preferred.  In addition, the Recreation Coordinator shall have the ability to design, organize develop and deliver recreation programs; possess good oral and written communication skills; be able to present information in a clear, understandable mission – focused manner; will have the ability to establish and maintain good interpersonal relationships with clients, staff, and families; and remain true to the mission of the agency.  This position requires current  certification in CPR and First Aide.

Janitorial Assistant

Turnstone is in need of a Janitorial Assistant:

Hours needed:  variable hours on weekends and occasional weekdays
Duties:

  • Maintain the cleanliness of floors, bathrooms and furniture in lobbies.
  • Assist with setup and teardown for events and tournaments
  • Assist with facility supervision, enforcing adherence to facility rules

Lifeguards

Turnstone is seeking enthusiastic and outgoing lifeguards to work with people with disabilities of all ages in their warm water therapy pool.   Lifeguards are responsible for creating and maintaining a safe and secure environment for all pool patrons.  This includes constant surveillance of patrons while in the facility; acting immediately in an emergency and providing appropriate CPR and first aid skills; providing care and treatment as required until emergency personnel arrive; abiding by, and showing authority with all Board of Health and Turnstone rules and regulations; testing and maintaining balanced chemicals; completing annual lifeguard requirements and training; and maintaining equipment in good, working, and safe condition and stored appropriately. Training includes current basic lifeguarding certification, adult/infant/child CPR, blood borne pathogens, and standard first aid (recognized sources - American Red Cross, Ellis, YMCA, or YWCA).   Must be at least 18 years of age.  Full time and part time positions with benefits.  Flexible schedule Monday through Saturday with evening and possible Sunday hours.
