Program Assistant - Adult Day Services, Part-Time (Seasonal)

This position is a temporary, 20-hour per week position. Typical hours will be Monday-Friday, 10 am – 2 pm, though the schedule may flex depending on program needs. The duration of this seasonal position will be through September 27, 2024, after which the position will be re-evaluated to determine the potential of transitioning from temporary to permanent.

The Program Assistant will assist in the planning, coordination and implementation of structured, therapeutic activities and recreation designed to improve the overall function of adult clients with physical or neurological disabilities. They will assist clients in meeting individual service goals and provide for personal care needs. As a part of the Adult Day Services team, the program assistant is responsible for the care, safety and emotional support of Turnstone clients.

Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Assisting in the planning of individual and group activities
  • Setting up, directing and assisting clients with program activities
  • Collaborating with the Adult Day Services team on the creation of the monthly program schedule to include activities designed to engage clients
  • Supporting clients with personal needs and activities of daily living, such as transfers, ambulation, feeding, and bathroom care
  • Providing a safe and supervised environment for clients
  • Encouraging clients to participate and communicate
  • Maintaining equipment and supply inventory for the program
  • Documenting information for client files and maintaining required records

  • Strong attention to detail, especially regarding patient documentation
  • Displays patience, understanding, and care when working with clients
  • Displays a strong attention to detail, with good verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to maintain positive relationships with clients, their families, and other employees

Requirements:

  • High school diploma
  • Caregiving experience (preferred)
  • CNA certification (preferred)
  • Must be able to lift, handle, push or pull 50 lbs. alone or 100 lbs. with support from someone else
