Help Turnstone create possibilities for children and adults with disabilities by donating your time and talent. Review the descriptions below to find the perfect fit for your interest and availability. Opportunities include event volunteers, concession volunteers and program volunteers.
After signing up for one of the volunteer opportunities listed below, all first-time volunteers will also be required to fill out additional paperwork related to the selected area of need. You will receive information about your next steps after completing the initial sign up form.

Event Volunteer Opportunities
Turnstone’s events are perfect opportunities for groups of community-minded adults or students to contribute. After signing up for one of the volunteer opportunities listed below, all first-time volunteers will also need to fill out the Turnstone volunteer registration form online prior to arriving for your first volunteer opportunity.

Program Volunteer Positions
Turnstone relies on volunteers to assist with the daily programming activities for adults and children, including support therapy, aquatic, and fitness programs. These opportunities include recurring commitment times. See below for more information.
All participants will need to fill out the program volunteer position application online.
- February 13th - Candy Making Class - Sign up to Volunteer
Adult Day Services Volunteer
Volunteers assist staff and adult clients during program activities, such as crafts and games, as well as at snack and lunch time. Volunteers help keep the program area clean and orderly.
Requirements
- Pass a National Criminal History consumer report
- TB Test
Childcare Program Volunteer
Volunteers interact with the children and staff; assist in the preparation of daily activities including escorting children to the classroom, removing coats, preparing children for activities, gathering and distributing materials; assist in classroom activities including mealtime, games, music, and free-play; share ideas and plans; assist in keeping classroom area clean and orderly; organizing and washing toys and dishes.
Requirements
- Must be 16 years of age
- Pass a National Criminal History consumer report
- Finger printing if volunteering more than 8 hours per month (at own expense valid for 3 years after completed)
- Physical (within 3 months, or in past 12 months at own expense)
- TB Test
Concessions Management Volunteer
Concession management volunteers provide oversight assistance of concession activities. These needs include day-to-day concession functions, as well as support for a variety of sports and recreation events held at Turnstone. Volunteers will prepare, serve, and sell food and beverages and maintain a clean work area. All funds raised in the concessions support Turnstone's programs and services. Short-term concession volunteer opportunities are also available—please see above.
Requirements
- Must be 16 years of age or older
- Pass a National criminal history consumer report
- Food handling experience a plus, but not required
Fundraising Events Volunteer
Volunteers assist with Turnstone's Fundraising Events by helping with ticket sales, event setup/takedown, and by serving on planning committees. For more inforamtion, contact Kenna Davis, Sponsorship & Special Events Manager, at kenna@turnstone.org or (260) 483-2100.

Sports and Recreation Program Volunteer
Volunteers assist with individual sport practices and programming activities. Activities include, but are not limited to, wheelchair basketball, sled hockey, power soccer, tennis, and boccia.

Therapy / Aquatics / Fitness Volunteer
Volunteers are needed to assist people with disabilties of all ages. Volunteers help prepare for the therapy activity; wash, dry and fold laundry towels; help get out and put away equipment; clean equipment; and assist clients in getting to and from the program areas.
