Turnstone Athletes Break Records at Jr. Nationals

Turnstone is proud to say that we have 4 of the top athletes in archery, swimming, track and field events.

At Jr. Nationals in Middleton, WI from July 15 – 22, 2017 Caytlin, Zachariah, Zebidiah, and Zephira were among the top athletes under the ages of 23.

In her first year of competition Caytlin Whaley has dominated in her division where she set a new national record in discus by throwing 5.92 meters. Heading into this event Caytlin already was the national record holder in shotput by throwing  2.75 meters at the Thunder in the Valley games last month. At Nationals she was only 5 millimeters off her mark which still would have been a national record if she didn’t set it earlier. Caytlin continued her winning ways at Nationals also in track where she finished 1st in both the 60 meter (20.23 seconds) and 100 meter sprints (31.74 seconds) which were both personal records for her.

The Nationals records continue to roll on as Zebidiah Pfenning set a National Record  in Long Jump (2.99 meters) and tied with previous record in Javelin with throwing for 14.45 meters.

Zachariah Pfenning set personal records in running in both the 200 meter (42.16 seconds) and 400 meter (1:33:29 seconds). In swimming Zach finished 1st by completing the 25 meter back stroke in 27.37 seconds. Zeb and Zach’s younger sister Zephira threw a personal record in the 300g Javelin of 5.23 meters and shot a 208 mark in archery to earn 1st place in her division.
