The Auer Foundation: It Couldn’t Be Done Without… Foundations

November 29th, 2021

Since 2009, the Edward and Ione Auer Foundation has been invested in empowering people with disabilities through Turnstone's comprehensive programs and services. Initially, the Auer Foundation provided support for Turnstone's unique therapy program which provides speech, occupational, and physical therapy services to children and adults with disabilities. Later, the Auer Foundation's investment expanded to provide general operating support to ensure people with disabilities had access to all of Turnstone's programs and services including Adult and Pediatric Therapy; Adult Day Services and Memory Care; inclusive childcare at the Kimbrough Early Learning Center; Adaptive Sports and Recreation; Adaptive Fitness and Aquatics; and Case Management.

In Turnstone's 2009-10 fiscal year, 2,086 people with disabilities were served. Because of deep trust and support from partners like the Auer Foundation, that service number increased by 82% to 3,634 in Turnstone's 2017-18 fiscal year, the highest service year to date. And, because of critical support from the Auer Foundation, Turnstone has accomplished several major milestones on behalf of people with disabilities including the completed construction of the Madge Rothschild Pediatric Therapy Wing, the opening of the Memory Care Program, and the 2019 International Blind Sports Federation (IBSA) Goalball and Judo International Qualifier.

We couldn't do it without partnerships like that of the Edward and Ione Auer Foundation who have enhanced the lives of people with disabilities throughout our community by supporting the ongoing work of Turnstone's mission.
