Registration Now Open for Turnstone Endeavor Games – April 26-28, 2019

FORT WAYNE, IN (February 21, 2019) — Registration is open for the 3rd Annual Turnstone Endeavor Games, an opportunity for athletes with physical disabilities to participate in various sporting events on a novice and a competitive level, April 26-28th, 2019.

The Turnstone Endeavor Games is the first stop of the Endeavor Games series, with the series culminating at the UCO Endeavor Games June 6-9th, 2019. The 2019 Turnstone Endeavor Games includes 10 sports — archery, air rifle shooting, boccia, goalball, power soccer, sitting volleyball, swimming, track, field, and wheelchair basketball.

The games will open on Friday, April 26th with a day of sports clinics and a welcome party for athletes, coaches and families at the Plassman Athletic Center at Turnstone. Competition also begins with sitting volleyball and wheelchair basketball at 4:30 p.m. on April 26th at the Plassman Athletic Center at Turnstone and continues through Sunday, April 28th, ending with Swimming and Archery competitions at Carroll High School.

“Turnstone is proud to bring the Endeavor Games spirit to the Midwest through our partnership with the University of Central Oklahoma,” said Mike Mushett, CEO of Turnstone. “The Turnstone Endeavor Games welcomes athletes of all ages, including military veterans with disabilities and their families to join us for a weekend of exciting competition.”

Events will be held at Homestead High School for track and field, the X Count for air rifle, Carroll High School for swimming and archery, and Turnstone for boccia, goalball, sitting volleyball, wheelchair basketball, and power soccer. Admission is free and open to the public.

Registration for the Turnstone Endeavor Games closes on April 12th.           

Now in its 19th year, the UCO Endeavor Games is the nation’s largest multi-sport, multi-disability event. Additionally, since its first year in 2000, the games have provided training clinics for aspiring athletes.

The Endeavor Games series is supported by national partners Turnstone Center, U.S. Paralympics, Disabled Sports USA, and Hanger Clinic and the Turnstone Endeavor Games are supported by local partners Visit Fort Wayne, Pro Resources, Northeastern REMC Touchstone Energy Partners, CWC Logistics, Save-A-Lot, and Vera Bradley.

Volunteers are needed for a variety of positions. Each shift will last no more than four hours, and each volunteer will receive a T-shirt.
