One Percent Better
As an athlete or coach, you always want to strive to be one percent better every day, every practice, every game.
There can be a lot of different ways that an athlete can become one percent better; it does not always have to be in a physical way.
One can become better in their mental game. An example of this would be knowing plays and knowing what to do before the next play.
You can be one percent better in the emotional part of the game. A great example of this that was actually touched on in the May newsletter is knowing what you can and cannot control. You can learn what you cannot control and not allow your emotions to get the better of you.
This is not just something that can go toward the athletes. Coaches can and should also strive to be one percent better not just for themselves but for the team that they are coaching. They can lead by example and show their athletes great examples of how to become better but also how they might apply this to their everyday life when they get older.
One of the best and easiest ways to grow one percent is by failing and learning from it. When you fail you learn of new ways that you can do those things.
One percent may seem like a small number but after a while when you look back at it you see the great progress that you have made over the years.
