Speech-Language Pathologist

Turnstone Center is seeking a Speech/ Language Pathologist. This position is responsible for evaluating, planning, and conducting a speech therapy treatment program for medically referred children and adults with physical, developmental, or cognitive disabilities who exhibit difficulties with their ability to communicate and/or swallow. The SLP utilizes the application of non-medical and non-surgical principles, methods, and procedures for the prevention, evaluation, habilitation, rehabilitation, instruction of communication and swallowing disorders; electively modifies communication behaviors and enhances communication including the use of augmentative or alternative communication strategies at a level of performance neurologically appropriate for a person's stage of development and to prevent or delay further disability. An electronic health records system is utilized for daily operations, i.e. scheduling and documentation. 

Full-time; Monday-Friday, may include late afternoon/early evening appointments 

Requirements

  • Master’s or Doctorate in speech/language pathology from a school of speech and language pathology
  • Current and valid license as a Speech/Language Pathologist in the State of Indiana and the attainment of Certification of Clinical Competency within the period ascribed by ASHA following graduation and application of the CFY. 
  • Current and maintained certification in CPR and First Aid.

Duties include but are not limited to

  • Provide quality habilitation and rehabilitation services
  • Make individualized treatment plans, re-evaluating often for needed modifications
  • Give ongoing instruction, education, and training to clients
  • Assist in the evaluation, development, and/or purchase of adaptive equipment
  • Consult and communicate with identified service providers
  • Utilize the electronic health records system
  • Detailed documentation in the client’s chart
  • Instruct/help volunteers and program observers as needed
