Speech Therapist-School Based

Are you seeking an opportunity to serve others and create possibilities? Turnstone is seeking a full-time or part-time Speech Therapist to support the needs of Turnstone clients within a school environment. Successful candidates will empower our clients with speech, language and other communication disabilities. As a part of Turnstone’s speech therapy team, this role is important to encouraging and helping clients reach their fullest potential in their communication skills. A successful candidate values everyone’s unique abilities and cares about helping clients reach their potential. 

What you’ll do:

  • Screen, evaluate and provide therapy and treatment to students with speech, language and other communication disabilities.
  • Provide consultation, eligibility, placement and referral services for identified students.  
  • Monitor, assess and adjust therapy in response to student issues, needs and progress.  
  • Participates in the development of student IEP's.
  • Adhere to required program guidelines as defined by the school and Indiana Department of Education.
  • Consult with parents, teachers, administrators, and others concerning the needs of students and special services that are available.

  • Hours: 8 am to 4 pm, with some flexibility

Sport Engagement and Competitions Coordinator

Turnstone's Sports and Recreation program is seeking a salaried, full-time team member with the ability to design, organize, develop and deliver adaptive sports events; possess good oral and written communication skills; have the ability to establish and maintain good interpersonal relationships with staff, families, and clients; and remain true to the mission of the agency. Turnstone's Sports and Recreation program also supports Turnstone's role as one of 11 Olympic and Paralympic Training Sites. 

What the Sport Engagement and Competitions Coordinator will do:

- Coordinate and host adaptive sports and recreation tournaments, clinics and camps in Turnstone’s fieldhouse.

- Provide efficient, timely, and effective organization, leadership, and communication

- Design, develop and deliver year-round adaptive sports tournaments, camps, and clinics

- Develop and adhere to a budget

- Work with outside organizations

- Arrange registration, transportation, food, and hotel accommodations for away teams

- Coordinate the  officials and recruit and train volunteers

- Work with co-workers in a positive team-building manner. 

Position requirements:
- a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in sports management, recreation therapy, or related field. 

-  current and maintained certification in CPR and First Aid

- Flexible schedule which includes weekends and evenings 

- The preferred candidate will have a CTRS certification, completion of Certified Disability Sports Specialist (CDSS) training and/or 1-3 years of professional experience working with people with disabilities in adaptive recreation and competitive sports.

Administrative Assistant

Turnstone is looking for our next team member that has great customer service skills, is highly organized and detail oriented, able to multitask, prioritize, and take direction from a variety of staff. The Administrative Assistant will provide clerical and accounting support and assistance to the agency’s staff and client services. This position also functions as a receptionist for clients, families, and guests of Turnstone specifically at the Pediatric Therapy entrance.

Basic duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Provide friendly, direct customer service to clients/families
  • Organizing, filing, entering data, and assisting in an Electronic Health Records (EHR) conversion
  • Proficiently utilize various software programs (WORD, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) to assist in data compilation and completing of reports.
  • Assist with distribution and collections of satisfaction surveys
  • Assist clients and needed

Full-Time Teaching Assistant

The Kimbrough Early Learning Center at Turnstone is seeking two Full-Time Teaching Assistants.

Shifts available:

  • 9:00am - 5:45pm, Monday-Friday

The Kimbrough Early Learning Center is currently seeking two Full-Time Teaching Assistants to join the Turnstone Family and contribute to our investment in the next generation. The Teaching Assistant provides assistance in group and individualized instruction and supervision of the children, ages 2-6 with and without physical, visual, neurological, and/or developmental disabilities.

This is a unique opportunity for individuals interested and experienced in education, particularly for students in the following areas of study: education and special education, speech and language pathology, occupational therapy, and physical therapy. Interested individuals must have the ability to make independent decisions within the scope of duties; plan and prioritize responsibilities; possess excellent communication skills; and demonstrate the ability to maintain good interpersonal relationships with peers and clients.


  • current and maintained certification in First Aid and CPR
  • a High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Adhere to Indiana State regulations for licensed childcare centers and Paths to Quality requirements.


  • A Child Development Associate (CDA) credential
  • Associates degree in Early Childhood education

The Teaching Assistant, under the direction and supervision of the Lead Teacher and the Director of Kimbrough Early Learning Center, will:

  • Assist in the preparation of daily activities.
  • Provide for the physical, mental, and emotional needs of children.
  • Assist in personal needs of the children.
  • Assist in classroom activities: follow through with objectives, outcomes, and progress as established by the teacher. Assist with games, feeding, music and free-play.
  • Assist in keeping classroom area clean and orderly; organizing, washing toys, disinfecting, dishes and laundry.
  • Must possess adequate strength and endurance necessary to assist clients with transfers, ambulation and other functional mobility activities.
  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds.
  • Complete other duties as assigned.

Turnstone is seeking enthusiastic and outgoing lifeguards to work with people with disabilities of all ages in their warm water therapy pool.  

Lifeguards are responsible for creating and maintaining a safe and secure environment for all pool patrons. This includes constant surveillance of patrons while in the facility; acting immediately in an emergency and providing appropriate CPR and first aid skills; providing care and treatment as required until emergency personnel arrive; abiding by, and showing authority with all Board of Health and Turnstone rules and regulations; testing and maintaining balanced chemicals; completing annual lifeguard requirements and training; and maintaining equipment in good, working, and safe condition and stored appropriately.  Training includes current basic lifeguarding certification, adult/infant/child CPR, blood borne pathogens, and standard first aid (recognized sources – American Red Cross, Ellis, YMCA, or YWCA).

Must be at least 18 years of age.

These positions are part-time with flexible hours Monday through Saturday with evenings and possible Sunday hours.
