Youth Fitness

The purpose of the Youth Fitness Program is to encourage our youth clients to remain physically active by providing them an opportunity to work-out as a group under the instruction of our Fitness Specialists.  Click here for current Youth Fitness session information.  To register or for more information, please contact Michelle Kimpel at (260) 483-2100, ext. 283.

Fishing Derby

Inspiring future fisher people, the Summit City Bass Masters hosts an annual fishing derby for the children and adults with disabilities in July. Please check back for information on next year’s outing.  For more information about the Summit City Bass Masters, please visit

Parent Support Group

Turnstone’s Parent Support Group is offered for primary caregivers of children with special needs. The purpose of these sessions is to provide the opportunity for parents to meet one another and share experiences as parents of special needs children and youth.  Ellen Heiny, MSW, is the facilitator of the group.  There are 2 support groups one meets the 1st Thursday of every month from 6:30-7:30 p.m. and the other group meets the 3rd Wednesday of each month from 6:30 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.  Childcare may be available at no charge, with advance notice. Parkinson’s Exercise Group

Parkinson Exercise Class is a group exercise class offered throughout the year at Turnstone on Mondays and Wednesdays from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m.  Classes cost $10 per month, if taking part in class one day per week, or $15 per month, if taking part in class on both days.  The class is led by the agency’s Health & Wellness Center staff and is tailored  to meet the needs of adults with Parkinson’s Disease.  The class includes range of motion and stretching, resistance exercises with dumbbells, exercise band, etc., and functional training activities.  Caregivers are encouraged to participate in the class.  Before participating, each person must have a signed Physician’s Release Form and have an evaluation completed by the Health & Wellness Center. The evaluation will help determine the participant’s appropriateness for the class and provide a health history.  This one time evaluation fee costs $25.

Parkinson’s Speech Group

This class is designed for people living with Parkinson’s and works on voice, speech, swallowing, and cognitive skills.  Class is held on Mondays and Wednesdays from 9:30 to 10:15 a.m. at Turnstone.  People can attend one or both sessions.  The cost is $6 per class or $10 per week if they attend both sessions.  Fees are payable at the beginning of class.  For more information, please contact Peg Maginn, SLP at (260) 483-2100 x 229.


Swim Lap Club

A specialized, therapeutic swim program, the Lap Club is designed for children with disabilities, age 4 to 12.  Participants are divided into teams based on their level of skill.  For information on the current session, please contact Kristin at (260) 483-2100.
