Turnstone receives grant from Fleet Feet & Balega

This morning (07/28/16) at Kraeger Park, Fleet Feet presented Turnstone with a check for $2,500. The award is part of the competitive national Fleet Feet Partner FITlanthropy grant program and was announced at their annual conference in July. Fleet Feet is in its second year of partnering with Turnstone to help children and adults with disabilities prepare to walk, run or roll in the Fort4Fitness fall Senior Marathon, 4-mile, 10k, and Half-Marathon races. Fleet Feet staff participates in the bi-weekly training sessions to encourage Turnstone clients throughout the training process while also providing expert advice.

Turnstone has approximately 30 clients who train two or three days a week at local parks through the spring and summer to build their stamina and prepare them for the 4-mile, 10k, half marathon and this year, the full marathon events at Fort4Fitness. Community members participating in the Fort4Fitness fall event are encouraged to select Turnstone as their charity partner through Fort4Fitness registration.
