Nationals (Wheelchair Basketball) Military & Women's Division Recap
FORT WAYNE, Ind. (April 28, 2024)— The 2024 National Wheelchair Basketball Association (NWBA) Women’s and Military Championships took place in Fort Wayne, Indiana, from April 26–28 at Turnstone’s Plassman Athletic Center. For its first showing in Indiana, the Championships saw over 300 athletes and a little over 800 attendees from all over the United States.
Current and former Team USA athletes competed in the weekend tournament. Seven of these athletes will be heading to Paris 2024 later this year. These athletes include: four-time Paralympian, Natalie Schneider; three-time Paralympian Rebecca Murray, and 2020 Tokyo Paralympic Bronze medalists Josie Aslakson, Kaitlyn Eaton, Courtney Ryan, and Lindsey Zurbrugg, in addition to Emily Oberst.

About the 2024 NWBA Women’s And Military National Championships
The National Wheelchair Basketball Association (NWBA), Turnstone, and Visit Fort Wayne are proud to host the 2024 Women’s and Military Division Wheelchair Basketball National Championships. The event was held April 26 - 28, 2024 at the Plassman Athletic Center at Turnstone. This is the first time that the Nationals will be held in Indiana.
The Championships saw over 300 athletes and a total of nearly 800 attendees from all over the United States, coming from as far as Washington, California, Arizona, and Florida. The 2024 Women’s Division National Championship is set to be the largest women’s wheelchair basketball event in the organization's history, while 2024 also signals the second year that the NWBA will crown a National Champion in its newly founded military division.
There are nearly 200 NWBA-sanctioned competitions annually throughout the United States, Puerto Rico, Ontario, and Quebec. The NWBA season runs from October to April and culminates in the National Tournament.
Tom Hunter (Turnstone athlete, coach, referee & volunteer) attended the 2024 Wheelchair Curling Athlete Identification Camp which took place in Golden, Colorado on April 27-30!
3rd Place finish at Nationals (Tier 4) for Turnstone's sled hockey team.
